Working With Transparency – Part 3

Ready to make your transparent animations feel like they belong in your scene? Let’s talk blending modes.

What are blending modes?
A blending mode controls how your animation mixes with the video underneath. Instead of just sitting on top like a sticker, it can interact with light, shadows, and textures in your footage.

A few popular modes to try:

  • Screen: Brightens the layer — great for flares and glows.

  • Multiply: Darkens the layer — perfect for gritty overlays or shadows.

  • Overlay: Adds contrast for a punchier look.

You’ll find blending modes under your clip settings — usually called Compositing Mode or Blend Mode.
Both Filmora and DaVinci Resolve have this built-in.

Want to go further?
✅ Adjust opacity to blend naturally.
✅ Tweak color to match your footage’s vibe.
✅ Add shadows or blur for extra realism.

Little tricks like this take your edits from good to pro-level polish — without complicated plugins.

That’s it!
